SEO Keyword and Key Phase Usage

 

Let’s look at an important component of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), understanding how to use keywords and key phrases for maximizing traffic and sales for your online store.

A mistake often seen made by many online stores is not using keywords or key phrases where it logically makes sense. Categories, is a great place to start. For example, if lingerie is one of your key words you could possibly use it in your categories as such; Lingerie, Plus Size Lingerie, Bridal Lingerie, Christmas Lingerie.

Don’t overdo it. But do use it in a logical fashion.

Product titles, is another important place to use keywords and key phrases. Sticking with lingerie as a keyword, an example would be a product title such as “Floral Lace Babydoll Lingerie” vs. just “Floral Lace Babydoll”. Again, use it when it makes sense.

Product descriptions, is an area where we see many online stores neglect to use their keywords or key phrases. Here is an example of a description one site was using for a floral lace babydoll lingerie item, “This beautiful, two-piece bridal babydoll set features a sheer babydoll with floral lace bodice, puffed sleeves, flutter front and matching g-string.”. As you can see, the keyword Lingerie is not present in the description. A simple rewrite to use the lingerie keyword would be “This beautiful, two-piece bridal babydoll lingerie set features a sheer babydoll with floral lace bodice, puffed sleeves, flutter front and matching g-string.” It is simple to get the word in there at least once, which is definitely better than not at all.

These concepts are easy and simple to implement and will have a positive impact on your traffic and sales.
