Beauty is only skin deep.  A phrase never truer than when we begin looking at your website.  You can have the best looking site in the world but if the content is of little value, visitors will not stay and won't return.

When it comes to the web, and especially to Google, content is always king.  Let's repeat that... Content is always king. A few months ago Google released an update called "Panda", also known informally as the "Farmer Update".  The Panda release devalued sites that simply scrape content (or farm information) from other sites, post it and then put ads on those pages.  Google protects its brand by understanding what its users want, and their users want real content when they search.  They don't want to find the same information repeated 20 times from the original source. We have experienced these poor results in the past and fully agree with Google's thinking.  Kudos to Google for figuring this out and making a change that will help all those who create and crave valuable content.

So why should you care?  If you have a website and you are reposting information that is from other sources, IE: vendor news, industry news, and so on, you may want to watch your rankings and possibly rethink your content strategy.  You might want to think about creating original content on the subjects you are reporting or having someone create it for you.

It pays to be original, at least with Google it does.
