Tips on Choosing the Right eCommerce Company

Recently we were looking to purchase some products for use in our booth at the upcoming ILS show.  We found a company online and were in the middle of purchasing some products when their site went down.  We thought maybe it was a small glitch of some sort so we went back later in the day and the site was still down.  We went back the next day and the site was up but running very slow, almost unusable.  We abandoned our plans to purchase from them.  How can you trust that a company will deliver when they can't even keep their site up and running?

From this experience, we came up with  some tips on choosing an ecommerce hosting company.

Avoid Scam Plans - If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.  Unlimited bandwidth and disk space offers are usually not good choices as they are usually using low end hardware and bandwidth which will be slow and unreliable.

Don't pay yearly - Paying yearly puts you at risk of being stuck with a bad provider.  Only opt to pay yearly if you have been using your hosting provider for some time and  are very pleased with them.

Domain name -  If they have a domain name included with the site make sure your name is in the WHOIS information, otherwise you will not have control of the domain name if you want to move to another hosting provider.

Business continuity - It is important that you choose a hosting provider that has a business continuity hosting solution. It is important for your site to be up and running all the time.  You can't sell if your site is not up and operating correctly all the time.

Responsive site -  check some of the hosting company's current customers and see how responsive their sites are.  If they don't respond quickly and load pictures quickly, you might want to stay away from them.  Customers won't stay on your site long if pages load slowly.

Support- The company should respond to technical issues 24/7 and have flexible hours for any other services  you may be looking for.

Cost - Find a provider that will fit your budget, but remember to include all costs (ease of use, time saving features, etc...) Cheaper is not always the best deal.  The best deal is the service which meets your needs, saves you time, and stays up and running to service your customers.

At Gozooko our customers are #1.  Our services are fairly priced, we have business continuity solutions, your domain is yours to do what you wish with, and in our Gozooko 1 product we use proprietary acceleration technology so the site loads super quick.

If you are interested in hosting services give us a call, or when you are at the ILS in September stop by booth 301 and meet the Gozooko team.  It isn't often you can meet your hosting provider in person and actually get to know them, so stop by the booth and say "Hello!". .  GozookoGuys@gozooko.com
